Our Pastor
Pastor Kelly White trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour at the age of eight while attending a church camp. As a young teenager, his family moved to southern Indiana, where he began attending Old Paths Baptist Church.
In 2007, Kelly married the pastor's daughter, Sarah, and together the Lord has blessed them with five children. They count it a privilege to homeschool their children and seek to raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Following the homegoing of our former pastor, Pastor John Lewis, after his battle with cancer, the Lord led Pastor Kelly to accept the call to shepherd the congregation of Old Paths Baptist Church. It has been his desire to faithfully preach God's Word, care for the church family, and point people to the Lord Jesus Christ.
In addition to his pastoral ministry, Pastor Kelly is the owner of a construction company, serving the Lord as a bi-vocational pastor. Whether in the pulpit, on a job site, or in the community, his desire is to faithfully serve Christ and be an example of Christian integrity.
Pastor Kelly often says that he is simply seeking to be a faithful servant of the Lord. His prayer is to learn of the Chief Shepherd and, by God's grace, lovingly care for the flock that the Lord has entrusted to him.
"Feed the flock of God which is among you... And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away."
1 Peter 5:2, 4
Our Legacy
Old Paths Baptist Church is thankful for the life and ministry of our former pastor, Pastor John Lewis, who faithfully served the Lord and this congregation from 1994 until his homegoing in November 2020.
A Virginia farm boy whose life took him from the fields of home to the Vietnam War and eventually to the rugged bush of Alaska, Pastor Lewis had a testimony he never tired of telling. His favorite story was not about the places he had been or the things he had seen, but about a cold winter night in Alaska when he came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. That night changed the course of his life.
Pastor Lewis became a man with deep convictions and a love for the Word of God. He preached plainly and fearlessly against sin and the devil, calling Christians to holiness and a life separated unto God. He believed that biblical Christianity was meant to affect every part of a believer's life—not merely what happened inside the church building.
He also carried a deep burden for our nation. He was willing to speak against tyranny and the departure of America from its biblical foundations, while consistently pointing to what he believed was the true need of our country: repentance and a return to God.
Pastor Lewis had a particular love for Baptist history. He understood that the convictions for which Baptists have stood were not cheaply obtained, and he valued the heritage of believers who suffered and sacrificed for the liberty to follow the Scriptures according to conscience.
After Pastor Lewis was saved in January 1970, the Lord used his witness and the Word of God to lead his future wife, Betty, to Christ that March. They were married in June and were blessed with 50 years of marriage and four children.
When the Lord called Pastor Lewis home in November 2020, Old Paths Baptist Church lost a beloved pastor, but the biblical truths he had faithfully preached did not leave with him. A small but strong nucleus of the congregation remained, determined by God's grace to continue in the truth of His Word.
Today, as we ask the Lord to grow Old Paths Baptist Church according to His will, we remain thankful for those who faithfully walked these paths before us. We do not seek to follow a man, but we are grateful for faithful men who pointed us to Christ and taught us to stand upon the Word of God.
“Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.” — Hebrews 13:7
