Continuing in the Old Paths

"Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein..." Jeremiah 6:16

(Our Pastor’s Welcome)

Welcome to Old Paths Baptist Church!

If you've taken a few moments to learn about our church, you have probably noticed that we intentionally use the word continue throughout this page. That is because our desire is not to introduce something new, nor simply to preserve traditions for tradition's sake. Rather, we desire to continue in the timeless truths of God's Word.

Our church takes its name from Jeremiah 6:16, where the Lord calls His people to "ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein." We believe those old paths are not the customs of a bygone era, but the unchanging truths of Scripture. While cultures, opinions, and philosophies continually change, "the word of our God shall stand for ever" (Isaiah 40:8), and "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever" (Hebrews 13:8).

Everything we believe and practice flows from one simple conviction:

The Bible is still right.

For that reason, we strive to order our homes, our worship, our preaching, and our daily lives according to God's Word. We certainly do not claim perfection, but we do desire faithfulness. Our prayer is that every person who walks through our doors would encounter a church that loves the Lord Jesus Christ, believes the Bible, preaches the Gospel without compromise, and seeks to glorify God in all things.

OUR BIBLE

We continue to believe that the King James Bible is the preserved, inspired Word of God for the English-speaking people and our sole authority for faith and practice. Because God's Word is true, sufficient, and unchanging, we gladly submit every doctrine, every ministry, and every practice to the Scriptures.

Because God's Word is our final authority, we desire to obey it rather than merely admire it.

OUR PREACHING

We continue to believe that the preaching of God's Word is the centerpiece of New Testament worship. Our desire is to preach the whole counsel of God with conviction, compassion, and clarity, exalting the Lord Jesus Christ, calling sinners to repentance, and encouraging believers to grow in grace.

Because faith cometh by hearing the Word of God, we believe biblical preaching remains God's ordained means of reaching hearts.

OUR GOSPEL

We continue to proclaim the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ—that all men are sinners, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again the third day. Salvation is entirely by God's grace through faith in the finished work of Christ, apart from works, religious ceremony, or church membership. Every person must be born again.

Because eternity is real, we believe there is no greater message than the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

OUR WORSHIP

We continue to worship the Lord with reverence and godly fear, believing that worship exists to glorify God rather than entertain man. Our desire is that every aspect of our services magnify the Lord Jesus Christ and reflect the holiness of the God we serve.

Because worship belongs to God, our services are designed to honor Him rather than appeal to the spirit of the age.

OUR MUSIC

We believe that music is a gift from God and should glorify Him, exalt the Lord Jesus Christ, faithfully proclaim biblical truth, and be offered with reverence. Therefore, we continue to worship through the timeless hymns of the faith, heartfelt congregational singing, and Christ-honoring special music. Because we desire our worship to reflect sound doctrine and a high view of God, we do not use Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) or music produced by ministries that promote doctrinal error, such as Bethel or Hillsong.

Because music teaches as well as inspires, we believe it should faithfully reflect biblical truth and direct hearts toward Christ.

OUR MANNER

We continue to emphasize reverence, holiness, and biblical living. We believe the Christian's manner of life should adorn the doctrine of Christ and reflect those "professing godliness" (1 Timothy 2:10). As ambassadors for Christ, we desire to honor Him in our speech, conduct, appearance, and relationships. Because God's people are called to be holy (1 Peter 1:15–16), separate from the world (2 Corinthians 6:17), and not conformed to this world (Romans 12:2), we encourage one another to live in a manner that brings glory to our Saviour.

We also believe that God created mankind “male and female” (Genesis 1:27) and intentionally established distinct differences between the genders according to His perfect design. Therefore, we seek to uphold the biblical distinctions between men and women in both appearance and conduct. In a culture that increasingly blurs those distinctions, we believe God's design is good, wise, and worthy of our joyful obedience. We encourage men to present themselves as men and women to present themselves as women, honoring the distinctions God has established rather than embracing the confusion promoted by the world.

As a practical application of this conviction, we encourage attire that clearly reflects God's distinction between men and women and avoids clothing that identifies with or imitates the opposite gender.

Because biblical truth is meant to be lived, we desire to honor the Lord by allowing His Word to shape the way we live.

OUR FAMILY

We continue to believe that God established the home and ordained marriage as the lifelong union of one man and one woman. We encourage husbands to lovingly lead their homes, wives to joyfully fulfill their God-given role, parents to faithfully teach their children, and families to build their lives upon the Word of God.

Because the home is God's institution, we seek to follow His design rather than man's redefinition.

OUR FELLOWSHIP

We continue to believe that the Christian life is one of joy as well as holiness. While we strive to worship the Lord with reverence and godly fear, we also rejoice in His goodness and the fellowship He has given His people. We enjoy singing together, serving together, laughing together, and encouraging one another in the Lord.

Our desire is to cultivate a church family where visitors are warmly welcomed, friendships are genuine, children are loved, and Christ is honored. We believe that biblical convictions and Christian joy are not enemies but companions. A church can stand firmly upon the truth of God's Word while being filled with kindness, warmth, and genuine love for people.

Because Christ first loved us, we desire our church to reflect both the holiness of God and the joy of knowing Him.

OUR MISSIONS

We continue to obey Christ's command to preach the Gospel to every creature. We prayerfully support faithful missionaries who proclaim the Gospel, plant Bible-believing churches, and remain true to the doctrines of Scripture.

Because Christ died for the world, we believe the Gospel should be taken to the world.

OUR INVITATION

Whether you have walked with Christ for many years or are simply searching for biblical truth, we warmly invite you to visit Old Paths Baptist Church.

You will not find a perfect church, because every church is made up of imperfect people. But by God's grace, you will find a church that loves the Saviour, believes the Bible, preaches the Gospel, and desires to continue in the old paths.

Our prayer is that everything we do would point people—not to ourselves—but to the Lord Jesus Christ.

We would be honored to welcome you.

“Not old-fashioned for tradition's sake, but biblical for Christ's sake.”
